Ms. Cheryl V. Jones has been happily married to Mr. Kevin Jones for 28 years. I am the mother of Karyn, age 25, Karla, age 23 and the proud grandmother of Venetia, age 5. I am a graduate of Georgia State University where I earned a BA in Journalism. My first career was employment with the Bank of America Corporation of which I loyally worked in Corporate Finances for the Operations Division. It was from this company that I retired with 21 years of dedicated service in 2005.

While raising my children, despite my career; I was an active advocate of ensuring that their education was of the highest standard possible. I obligated myself to several positions within the school serving as Volunteer, Room Parent Coordinator, PTA Secretary for Cedar Grove Elementary and High School (2 terms) and Parent Council Member. In addition I served as Coordinator of my local church’s Children’s Ministry for several years. It was this dedication of serving, encouraging, mentoring and educating children that led to my employment with DeKalb County Schools.

My belief is that if children are our FUTURE….then WE must do OUR part to ensure that they are ready to LEAD!!! My favorite saying is, “If I can touch just one child in a way to bring out the good and positive within them….then I have done my part.” Education is the key to success and I am proud to serve in the process.
